Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art that originated in Japan, but was perfected in Brazil by the Gracie Family. Grandmaster Helio Gracie was smaller, weaker, and of poor health when he learned Jiu-Jitsu. He started modifying the techniques in order to provide the greatest amount of leverage and strategy for those who, like him, did not posses the physical abilities that others do.

   Today, Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is a lifestyle that many top level athletes perform at the highest level. Jiu-Jitsu, in it’s purest form, is simply the best form of self defense that is available to the public. It also provides a level of physical conditioning that cannot be found in mainstream fitness, because of the biomechanics involved in the sport.
