The difference is energy and the demands that we place on your energy systems. As most of us know, our energy comes from food, but most of us do not know how it is stored and used by the body to create movement. It is stored in blood, liver, muscle, and fat. What makes a person be among the elite is their ability to convert the energy that have stored in our bodies to usable energy known as ATP and use it for movement
Food is stored as glucose and fat. These are converted to ATP through what are called metabolic pathways. When we exercise at different intensities our bodies make the needed adjustments in order to convert the energy faster and more efficiently than before through increasing enzyme activity, muscle mitochondria, muscle fiber types, and capillary densities. The difference in what we do and what everyone else does it they just want to burn calories and increase muscle size, we want to make everything about you more efficient and better.
There are 3 general pathways (there are more but this makes it simple) that the body uses for energy conversion. The first is the ATP-PC system which is what you use when you jump as high as you can. It᾿s the stored energy that we already have in our muscles. The next is the anaerobic glycolysis system, which is what we use when we have to sprint longer the 12 seconds, but less than 2 minutes. The final is the aerobic system which uses oxygen to breakdown fat to ATP. There is a whole lot that goes into all this and way too much to place here. In short, the difference is, well everything.
